Shikshan Prasarak Mandal, Akola was established in the year 1958 with an object to avail Educational Facilities to the Youths of old & down trodden part of Akola City & suburbs, where practically no facilities for education were available. Ceaseless efforts of Late Bhausaheb Godbole, Late Shri. Ratanlalji Agrawal, Dr. Smt. Pramilatai Tople, Late Dr. Vishnuji Tople, Late Shri. Shankarlalji Khandelwal, Shri. Madanlalji Khandelwal, Advocate R.K.Deshpande, Late Shri. Ganeshraoji Khot, Advocate, Late Shri. Vasantraoji Kasbekar, Shri. Gopalji Khandelwal led to establishment & development of different institutions of repute, namely Bhikamchand Khandelwal Vidyalaya (Jr. College), Moharidevi Khandelwal Higher Secondary Kanya Vidyalaya & Junior College, Geetadevi Khandelwal Institute of Pharmacy, Vocational Courses of Minimum Competency, Khandelwal English Primary School & Shri. Shankarlalji Khandelwal College of Science, Arts & Commerce. All these Institutions are successfully running in magnificent buildings & campus of Shikshan Prasarak Mandal, Akola.
Late Dr. Babasaheb alias V.G.Tople (Ex.Secretary, Shikshan Prasarak Mandal) & Dr. Smt. Pramilatai Tople (Ex.Health Minister, Maharashtra State & Retd. Chairperson, Shikshan Prasarak Mandal, Akola) attached highest importance to the establishment of this Institute. It was only their determination & dedication that enabled the Institute to start functioning from the Academic Year 1980-81. The Institute was started & well equipped with educational facilities to produce quality Pharmacists with Diploma Course in Pharmacy, who could serve in community & Hospital Pharmacy.
